Review of hookah IZZY Smoke Carbon

Review of hookah IZZY Smoke Carbon

Today we received a package from the Czech distributor and dealer IZZY Smoke. In it I find a simple box with IZZY Hookah logo. The inscription reveals that it is a Carbon model, which promises a balanced ratio of price, functionality and style. Did it work?

The box is really basic. The cardboard has the IZZY Hookah logo printed on it and on the side we find a sticker with the model that is hidden in the box. There's no tab and to open it, we're assured that it's not really needed. In fact, the box is definitely not designed to be carried around frequently and is purpose-built for a one-off delivery of an undamaged pipe. Each component is held in place by a section of cardboard, keeping the components separate and free from the risk of being dented.

We pull out the individual components and first we take the body of the pipe into which the heart is already mounted and in it is the connector for the slipper. The body consists of a stainless steel pipe and a tightly fitted Carbone sleeve, which is secured with stainless steel stops. The Carbon is genuine and in our version is finished in green. Thanks to the texture of the Carbone you can enjoy a nice glare and the body overall makes it look fresh. It's definitely another interesting move to make an ordinary stick more appealing.

The heart is made of polyacetal and has a threaded stainless steel insert to secure the body and downstem securely. The non-return valve is designed with 3 balls that are spread evenly around. The balls are then secured by the polyacetal insert, making them more difficult to remove for extra cleaning.

The connector is also made of polyacetal and is secured with 2 o-rings. It holds reliably, too much at the beginning (so you will exert more force at the beginning before the seals get a bit seized).

The downstem is made of stainless steel and has a short notch at the end for the diffuser. This is made of polyacetal and the downstem lengthens slightly, so different water levels are required for use with/without the diffuser. It's functional and will keep the pipe reasonably quiet as well as soften the overall draw.

The mouthpiece here is really simple. It is an ordinary stainless steel pipe, but it fulfills its purpose reliably.

The tray is then simple with an indentation to hold the ash and embers. It is finished in a high gloss, which may not suit everyone, but it suits the pipe. The mandrel is stainless steel, and of course the crown and vase gasket are included.

The functionality of the pipe is on the level. Considering the price - about 2.390,- for retail you get a pipe that will satisfy almost every pipe smoker. The diffuser is functional, the check valve is harder to clean, but it has a nice visual effect where it drives the smoke from the heart through the column to the tray.

In combination with real carbon, this is an interesting pipe that aspires to the design label in the basic category of pipes. It is available in 5 colour options, so there is something for everyone, or you don't have to settle for one boring colour in your business.

Considering the price, the distributor's approach and the durability of the design, the overall use in the enterprise makes quite a bit of sense, especially as a sort of starter-pack.

Pros:

  • Durable materials and overall construction
  • Carbon is an interesting design element
  • The non-return valve enhances the pipe
  • Good universal functionality
  • Choice of 5 carbon colours

Minuses:

  • Disassembling the check valve
  • Disposable packaging
  • Missing slipper in the package
